Most people think about glamping in Wales in July. That’s the problem, and also the opportunity. Winter glamping changes the whole equation — cheaper, quieter, and better weather for exactly the things (hot tub, log burner) you’re actually paying for.
A hot tub at 38°C doesn’t know what month it is. A log burner is better in December than it is in August, not worse. And a Welsh coastline with nobody else on it — no queue for the ice cream, no scramble for a parking space, just you, the wind and the sea — is arguably the better version of the same holiday, going for less money
Here’s why you might actually want to book for winter instead of waiting for summer.
Why winter glamping in Wales is the better booking
It’s often cheaper. Off-season rates across Wales tend to run below August, and our live prices change by date, so check yours when you choose your dates.
The hot tub works harder. There’s a specific, very Welsh pleasure in sitting in a private hot tub at 38°C while it’s 4°C and raining sideways around you. It’s not a compromise version of the summer experience — for a lot of guests, it’s the better one.
The site is quieter. No queues, no fighting for the good parking spot at the beach, no six other families walking past your unit’s window. Winter is when a five-acre site actually feels like five acres.
The stars are better. Longer, darker nights and clearer winter air make for genuinely better stargazing than a short midsummer night ever does — no need for a dedicated dark-sky site when the nights are already 15 hours long.
Log burners exist for exactly this. Pac-Man (Southern Hemisphere) has one built in — the kind of unit that’s genuinely warmer in January than most stone cottages, thanks to NASA-grade dome insulation plus a fire going.

What to actually do in winter Pembrokeshire
You don’t need beach weather to justify the trip.
Walk the coast path without the crowds. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is dramatically better company in winter — huge skies, nobody else on the cliffs, and you can hear the sea instead of somebody’s speaker.
Do Tenby properly. The town is prettier half-empty. Wander the walls, get chips, sit somewhere warm and watch the tide come in over the harbour.
Lean into the indoor stuff. Tenby Museum, the Tudor Merchant’s House, and — 24 minutes away — Heatherton and the Blue Lagoon adventure centre both run indoor activity options year-round.
Then go back to the hot tub. This is, honestly, the actual plan for most of the day.
A few practical winter notes
Bring proper layers, not just a jumper — Pembrokeshire wind off the coast is genuinely bracing in December and January.
Heating is standard across every unit, and firewood is included for the first night (then £10 a bag) wherever a unit has a burner.
Days are short — sunset well before 5pm in December — so plan outdoor time for late morning through early afternoon.
Book earlier than the low volume suggests you need to. Christmas, New Year and half-term weeks fill up despite the quiet season generally, particularly for the hot-tub units.
Frequently asked questions
Is winter glamping in Wales good in winter?
Yes — winter glamping in Wales is arguably better than summer for anyone who wants a quieter site, cheaper rates and a genuinely atmospheric hot tub or log-burner evening. Heated units, private hot tubs and included firewood make it a comfortable, all-year proposition rather than a fair-weather one.
Which winter stays near Tenby have a hot tub?
Apple Air, The Igloo, The Apple Express, Pac-Man (Southern Hemisphere), The Crate Escape and Norchard Farmhouse.
Do glamping pods in Wales have heating in winter?
At Apple Camping, yes — every unit is heated, several have private hot tubs, and Pac-Man (Southern Hemisphere) has a log burner.
Is it worth visiting Tenby in winter?
Yes. The town, beaches and coast path are all open and, for many visitors, more atmospheric with nobody else around. Indoor attractions like Tenby Museum, the Tudor Merchant’s House and Heatherton cover the wet-weather days.
